The Compact International Conference 2026 serves as a premier international academic forum exploring innovations in urban and regional planning to address climate uncertainty. Focusing on strengthening cities’ capacity to withstand, adapt to, and recover from climate-induced risks while ensuring long-term equity, the scientific scope of the conference is categorized into four core thematic pillars

  1. Adaptive Spatial Planning and Policy Reform
Focuses on adaptive spatial planning frameworks designed for climate uncertainty and systemic risk. This track explores multi-level and cross-sectoral urban governance, post-disaster recovery and reconstruction planning, and scenario-based approaches to foster institutional flexibility and learning.
  2. Climate-Resilient Urban Infrastructure and Nature-Based Solutions
Examines green-blue infrastructure for climate mitigation and adaptation under extreme environmental pressures. Discussions cover coastal, delta, and waterfront city resilience against hazards like flooding and sea-level rise, alongside nature-based solutions and integrated land-water ecosystem planning.

  3. Smart and Data-Driven Urban Resilience
nvestigates the application of cutting-edge digital technologies, including AI, big data analytics, and the IoT, for climate risk assessment and early warning. This track delves into geospatial analytics, predictive modeling, digital twins, and the governance or ethical challenges in smart urban systems.

  4. Sustainable Urban Mobility and Low-Carbon Transition
Addresses low-carbon transportation strategies and integrated public transport systems, including Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Travel Demand Management (TDM). It links sustainable mobility with affordable housing, infrastructure integration, and community-based spatial interventions like tactical urbanism.
